This Made Me Smile :: Monday :: Something She Will Never Forget

Monday, August 5, 2013

Grandma doesn't remember much.
But what she does remember we value.
Like when she remembers someone's name.
Or something from her past.
Or the date of her birthday.
Or where her bedroom is.
Or if she remembers not to feed the dogs her lunch.
Something that she never ceases to remember are the words to old hymns.
Her very favorite is Amazing Grace.
When she sings this beautiful hymn I forget that she can't remember.
I see in her something totally different when she is praising The King.

I hope this makes you smile as much as is made me smile.

  3. Grandma Shirley, you sing very beautifully! Mackenzie this is so beautiful and such a treasure and blessing to have it recorded! My grandmother lives in another country and sadly we have never been able to meet her, and it would be so nice to hear stories of her past, ask her what sorts of trouble my dad got into and so much more! Anyways, thanks for bringing a smile to my face and tears to my eyes! Blessings to you :)

  8. OH, oh, OH. Sooo sweet, Mackenzie! I just love how the older generations know those old hymns so well. "Amazing Grace" always seems to be everyone's favorite when we sing at the nursing home, because they all know it so well from their childhood! ;-) It's the most precious thing to watch them sing along, and just taking in every part of it. Precious, precious. They DO look so beautiful when they praise their King - He brings the kind of joy that lights up their face like nothing else could.

This made me smile, for sure!
